A businessman laments his sister and boyfriend stealing N14 million from his company.

Leonard Chukwuma, a businessman from Ebute-Meta in Lagos State, has told a Chief Magistrate's Court how his half-sister, Adaku, and her boyfriend, Ikechukwu Eze, allegedly stole N14 million from his company.

On Friday, Chukwuma appeared as a witness in the case against Eze before Chief Magistrate F. M. Kayode-Alamu.

Eze and Adaku were accused of conspiring in 2020 to steal the money from the complainant's telecoms company, Talkpoint.

According to Chukwuma, his sister requested N10 million to help fund a company she and the defendant co-founded.

According to Chukwuma, he petitioned the Area F Police Station, and the two lovers were detained, confessing to stealing N14 million and signing a promise to refund the money.

"Eze said he had all of the money and that the cops should leave my sister alone because he was going to pay it back. They were released on bond after he signed an undertaking to that effect. She had vanished. Since then, I haven't looked at her," he added.

Eze only paid half of the money, according to the complainant, and stopped responding to police invitations on the matter.

He said that this spurred him to file a new petition with the State Criminal Investigation Department in Yaba, and that the defendant's sureties were apprehended as a result.

Despite writing another statement promising to repay the money, the businessman complained that Eze had not followed through on his pledge.

All of the declarations and petitions were submitted and accepted as evidence. The case was rescheduled for cross examination on July 20.
