Emirates Airlines has become the latest company to accept Bitcoin as a form of payment.

Adel Al-Redha, the company's Chief Operating Officer, made the announcement in a statement.

He said that the corporation could need to hire staff to help it develop programs to track client wants. He went on to describe the distinctions between NFTs and the metaverse.

"NFTs and metaverse are two separate applications and techniques," he told Bitcoin.com. You'll be able to turn your entire process — whether it's in operation, training, website sales, or the entire experience — into a metaverse-style application, but more significantly, make it interactive."

On its website, the business stated it would also provide non-fungible token collectibles.

Al-Redha did not provide a specific date for the debut of its BTC payment facility. This news comes just weeks after the airline unveiled its intentions for NFT and metaverse. The company's goal with the metaverse launch, according to the corporation, was to guarantee that it was in line with the UAE's digital economy vision.

He claimed that the airline was looking into adopting blockchain to maintain track of aircraft records. He went on to say that the corporation might leverage the metaverse to digitalize procedures like operations, training, website sales, and other airline-related events.

This is happening as airports and airlines throughout the world look at integrating blockchain-based technologies and cryptocurrency payments. Air France teamed up with numerous organizations in February 2021 to develop a blockchain-based system that confirms COVID-19 test results.

Since accepting Bitcoin since 2014, the Latvian airline airBaltic introduced Dogecoin and Ether to its payment options in March 2021.

Salvadoran President Nayib Bukele said in October 2021 that the airline Volaris El Salvador would begin accepting BTC payments.
