I can beat Atiku in presidential poll, says Umahi

On Sunday, Ebonyi State Governor and Chairman of the South-East Governors' Forum, David Umahi, bragged that if he wins the All Progressives Congress presidential ticket, he will defeat the Peoples Democratic Party's nominee, Atiku Abubakar, before noon on election day.

When the national leadership of the Nigeria Union of Journalists and the National Association of Women Journalists paid him a courtesy call at the new Presidential Lodge, Government House, Abakaliki, on Sunday, the governor, who is a presidential aspirant of the APC, said this.

Umahi, who expressed displeasure with the PDP presidential candidates' display of financial clout during the party's primary election in Abuja, said that "if I were the President, I would have frozen their assets."

The APC presidential candidate stated that he abandoned the PDP because the South-East was being marginalized, and that the accomplishments he has made so far under the APC administration are unrivaled and irreversible.

He urged Nigerians to vote for leaders with an impressive pedigree and track record, rather than those who lack the vision to rebuild the country.

Speaking on the Biafra agitation, Umahi claimed that Ebonyi State was not a member of Biafra because the state had been disenfranchised and marginalized by other South-Eastern states over the years.

He praised the president, Major-General Muhammadu Buhari (rtd), for his commitment to the state's growth and development.

While charging media professionals to work with his administration in every field, he also cautioned them to avoid any behavior that could harm the media community.

Earlier, Chris Isiguzo, the National President of the NUJ, promised the governor of the media's cooperation while commending Umahi for promoting the state's development.
