Mercy Aigbe, Funke Akindele-Bello, Toyin Abraham, and other Nollywood stars have started a campaign to help their colleague, Kemi Afolabi, who was recently diagnosed with lupus.
Afolabi recently revealed her condition, claiming that her doctor warned her she only had five years to live.
The actress thanked her coworkers and friends for organizing a fundraising for her treatment in an Instagram post on Thursday.
Mercy Aigbe, Funke Akindele-Bello, Toyin Abraham, Yomi Fabiyi, Akin Olaiya, Adeoti Kazim, Shola Kosoko, Wumi Toriola, and others were among those she mentioned.
"I appreciate you guys putting this together just for me," she remarked. "May God bless you and your family."
The treatment, which will take place in another country, is set to commence in June 2022, according to her.
She also stated that she was aware of the financial account set up for the treatment.
“I, Kemi Afolabi, is aware of the account opened to support my medical treatment abroad which commences in June 2022,” she wrote, adding the account details.
She also urged fans to contribute to the GOFundMe account that has been created on her behalf.
Appreciating the contributors, she said, “God bless everyone who has contributed. Thank you all.”
Two months ago, the actress had raised the alarm concerning scammers taking advantage of her situation on Facebook.
