The All Progressives Congress's youth branch invited the 28 presidential candidates to a town hall meeting on Wednesday before of the party's primaries.
Dayo Israel, the APC's national youth leader, said this in a statement posted in Abuja.
Israel stated that the two-day gathering, which would take place on May 27 at the APC Youths Presidential Town Hall in Abuja, will provide Nigerian youths with insight into the plans each presidential candidate has for them if elected.
Although it is unclear whether the party's national leader, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, and Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, as well as the remaining 26 presidential hopefuls, will attend, Israel observed that the moment has come.
"Our party delegates will convene in Abuja in a few days for the Special Convention/Presidential Primaries to decide the Presidential Candidate of our Great party - The APC," the message said. While some of the candidates have traveled throughout the country to speak to delegates, we have seen virtually little involvement with our party's youth wing.
"We believe that as the largest voting bloc, with the advantage of our numbers and demography, it is imperative that we meet down with all APC Presidential candidates and hear what they have in store for us as young progressives - if/when elected."
"In light of this, the Office of the National Youth Leader will host a "2023 APC Presidential Aspirant Town Hall Meeting with Young Progressives" with the participation of the APC's presidential candidates.
“On behalf of the youths of our party, I am using this medium to invite all our presidential aspirants to make themselves available for this special event. Participants will be able to register to attend on a first-come, first-serve basis on https://youngprogressives.ng/presidentialtownhall/ when the website goes live.”
This is even as Israel announced that the APC national youth wing had appointed members of the steering committee for the presidential town hall meeting.
They include Sanusi Ohiare (Co-Chair), Idris Aregbe (Co-Chair), Barrister Winifred Chukka – Secretary, Oluwatoyin Fasanmi – Asst Secretary, Hon. Jamalu Kabiru (The Deputy National Youth Leader), Obidike Chukwuebuka, Hon Hafiz Abolaji Repete, Dada Olusegun, Damilola Apotieri, Ahmadu Jibril, Hadiza Abubakar Talba, Ibrahim Alli Balogun, Nkemkama Kama St Andy and Makinde Araoye.
