President Muhammadu Buhari on Thursday praised Governor David Umahi of Ebonyi State.

President Muhammadu Buhari praised Governor David Umahi of Ebonyi State for the high quality of projects completed by his administration on Thursday, saying he is not shocked by the job quality because the two-term governor is an engineer.

The President began his two-day visit to the state by commissioning projects at the state-owned King David University of Medical Sciences, Uburu, which included a twin flyover, a 12-kilometer dualised Federal Road from Mbu, Enugu State to Uburu, the University Building, and the University Medical Hospital, Facilities and Equipment.

President Buhari made his first stop in the state for the inauguration of the 700-meter-long twin-flyover (also known as the King David's University flyover), which the State government built for N2 billion.

"I am not an engineer by training, yet despite wearing glasses, my eyes are incredibly clear. This performance has me impressed, and I am confident that the initiatives will be successful. I applaud the Governor on this accomplishment, and I am honored to be a part of it."

The President also opened the Cancer Centre at the King David University of Medical Sciences, which was built and equipped by the Federal Government under TETFUND, while in Uburu, Ohaozara Local Government Area of the State.

Umahi, who thanked the President for generously approving the Centre's funding, said the institution can compete with other world-class facilities.

”It is in the same standard as Lagos University Teaching Hospital (LUTH) and the State government also contributed to the project to bring it to completion,” he told the President.”

At the commissioning of the hospital section of the university, the Ebonyi State Governor thanked the President for acceding to the request of the State government on the Federal Government to take over the running of the teaching hospital.

"We have been celebrating your approval of our request and are very delighted that you are here to commission it yourself because this hospital is beyond the ability of any State administration to administer."

"You have left an indelible stamp on the growth of this center of excellence," he remarked.

The Governor said at the commissioning of the Presidential Lodge at the Muhammadu Buhari International Airport, Onueke, that the airport's concrete tarmac and runway had reached over 70% completion and would be completed by the end of next month.

The President also dedicated the five-kilometer dualised airport road in Onueke, which was erected by the state administration, as well as the reconstructed airport runway.

The President also inaugurated the five-kilometer dualised airport road in Onueke, as well as the reconstructed St Margaret Umahi International Market complex, a 750-meter-long twin-flyover near the market, and the Muhammadu Buhari Presidential Lodge, all of which are located in Abakiliki.
